Caseys Fall [v2022-12]

An early opportunity at select trout sites, the fall catch-and-release fishing season, will open Oct. 1. No trout may be kept during the catch-and-release period, but anglers can keep trout after the opening of the regular season beginning Oct. 15.

The Illinois Catchable Trout Program is funded by those who use the program through the sale of Inland Trout Stamps. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) stocks more than 80,000 rainbow trout each year in bodies of water where trout fishing is permitted during the fall season. An additional 80,000 trout are stocked for the spring season which begins each April.

For the 2022 fall trout season, no trout may be taken from any of the stocked sites until the season opens at 5 a.m. Oct. 15. During the season, the daily catch limit is five trout. For more information, visit www.ifishillinois.org.

After yet another fall, Grace moved from The Riverside to Amsterdam Nursing Home, a nonprofit, in the early summer of 2021. There, Grace routinely had to wait hours for help to use the bathroom, Claire said. She could not push her wheelchair over the marble threshold.

Precipitation changed over to snow by Tuesday. Snow continued through Wednesday and Thursday before finally ending on Friday. Strong northwesterly winds, gusting to 60 mph or higher, led to blowing and drifting snow throughout the event, and contributed to upslope-enhanced snowfall over the northern Black Hills and foothills. Those locations received the highest amounts of snow, with around 3 feet reported in the Spearfish and Sturgis areas and around 4 feet reported in the Cheyenne Crossing and Lead/Deadwood areas. From Pine Ridge eastward into central SD, 2 to 3 feet of snow were reported. Many locations across our area received a foot or two of snow. Due to the effects of downsloping winds, the southern Black Hills and foothills were spared from the worst of the snow and strong winds; only a couple inches of snow were reported in those areas. The strong winds lasted through Friday, so even after the snow ended, blizzard conditions continued for much of the South Dakota plains. More information about the storm can be found at the Satellite Liaison Blog.

Before embarking on my SAS journey I had no idea just how intense college courses would be. I am so grateful that I decided to do this program before entering my first year of college. It really provided me with an idea of what to expect in the fall.

One of the most valuable things I took away from my experience was the relationships I made aboard the MV Explorer, some of which I continue to connect with. They were all current college students, and offered me great advice when I began my freshman orientation during the fall after my summer voyage.

By fall, 11.1% of households with school-age children reported homeschooling (Sept. 30-Oct. 12). A clarification was added to the school enrollment question to make sure households were reporting true homeschooling rather than virtual learning through a public or private school.

In households where respondents identified as Black or African American (Table 1), the proportion homeschooling increased by five times, from 3.3% (April 23-May 5) to 16.1% in the fall (Sept. 30-Oct. 12). The size of the increases for the other Race/Hispanic origin groups were not statistically different from one another. 041b061a72
